MSAH Launches New Processor Recognition Program

How Michigan Processors Help Feed Families: Introducing the MSAH Processor Recognition Program

For more than three decades, the Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger (MSAH) program has brought together hunters, processors, and community food banks to provide high-quality venison to families in need. Since 1991, over 1.26 million pounds of processed venison have been distributed—resulting in more than 5 million servings of nutritious protein delivered across Michigan communities. This impact is made possible only because Michigan’s network of wild game processors contributes countless hours, expertise, and resources to support the program. Many offer discounted processing, and some even provide processing at no charge—helping MSAH stretch every donated dollar further. As Michigan continues to face high levels of food insecurity, this partnership has never been more important.

Because MSAH now operates entirely on direct donations and no longer receives state funding, every contribution—financial or in-kind—plays a crucial role in strengthening our statewide hunger-relief network. Support our work here: https://www.sportsmenagainsthunger.org/donate/

Introducing the MSAH Processor Recognition Program

To honor the vital role processors play in this mission, MSAH has launched the Processor Levels Recognition Program. This initiative highlights processors who provide no-charge venison processing services—support that directly increases our ability to feed more Michigan families.

Processors will be recognized at the following levels:

Ground Venison Level: $1 to $500
Venison Steak Level: $501 to $1,000
Venison Backstrap Level: $1,001 to $5,000
Venison Tenderloin Level: $5,001 and above

Recognized processors will appear on our official Processor Recognition Page, where hunters, donors, and partner organizations can see which businesses are helping fuel Michigan’s hunger-relief efforts:

How Processors Help Amplify the MSAH Mission

Whether through discounted services, occasional no-charge processing, or simply spreading awareness, processors are essential partners in ensuring the success of the MSAH program. They help connect hunters who wish to donate their harvest with a safe, trusted, and efficient system for turning wild game into meals for local families.

Hunters interested in donating their deer can learn more about the process here:

Visitors who wish to support MSAH financially can do so securely on our donation page. Every contribution directly supports processor reimbursements, program promotion, and the statewide network that transforms donated deer into food for Michigan residents:

A Community United Against Hunger

The strength of MSAH lies in its partnerships. Hunters provide the harvest. Processors prepare the venison. Food banks distribute the meals. And donors make it all possible.

Together, this network ensures that nutritious protein reaches Michigan families at no cost to them—strengthening communities and supporting thousands of residents each year.
