Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger Collects Thousands of Pounds of Food During Ultimate Sport Show Tour
The Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger team had an incredible showing during this year’s Ultimate Sport Show Tour, collecting thousands of pounds of canned and boxed food that will help feed families across Michigan.
Throughout the show, hunters, anglers, outdoor enthusiasts, and families stopped by our booth to donate food and support the mission of turning compassion into action. These donations were recently delivered to God’s Kitchen in Grand Rapids, a program of Catholic Charities West Michigan that serves thousands of meals every month to people facing food insecurity.
This effort highlights something we see time and time again: Michigan’s outdoor community cares deeply about helping others.
Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger has long been known for connecting hunters who harvest deer with local food banks through venison donation programs. However, our mission goes beyond venison alone. When opportunities arise to help communities through additional food donations, the outdoor community consistently steps up.
The food collected during the show will directly support individuals and families who rely on programs like God’s Kitchen for daily meals. For many people, these programs provide a reliable source of nourishment during difficult times.
We were also grateful for the help of students from Catholic Central High School, who volunteered their time to assist with unloading and organizing the food donations. Seeing young people engage with community service and hunger relief efforts is encouraging and reminds us that the spirit of giving continues to grow with the next generation.
Partnerships like these are essential to the success of hunger relief programs. By bringing together volunteers, conservationists, hunters, food banks, and community organizations, we can make a meaningful impact across Michigan.
Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger remains committed to its core mission: ensuring that wild game and other food resources are used to help feed people in need.
Events like the Ultimate Sport Show Tour demonstrate what is possible when the outdoor community comes together with a shared purpose.
We want to thank everyone who stopped by the booth, made a donation, volunteered their time, or helped spread the word. Your support helps ensure that fewer families in Michigan have to worry about where their next meal will come from.
Together, we can continue making a difference.
