Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger (MSAH) recently partnered with local hunters and Lambert’s Meat Market to deliver a meaningful donation of venison to families in need across Gladwin County and surrounding communities.
Earlier this season, MSAH was on site at Lambert’s Meat Market as boxes of ground venison—each containing 50 one-pound packages—were distributed to local food pantries and soup kitchens. The venison, generously donated by hunters and professionally processed by Lambert’s, will provide thousands of nutritious meals to Michigan families facing food insecurity.
A Processor Stepping Up for the Community
Tim Lambert, owner of Lambert’s Meat Market, donated the full cost of processing 1,658 pounds of venison for this distribution alone. Earlier in the season, Lambert’s also processed an additional 887 pounds of venison for donation to the same organizations.
Despite facing significant challenges—including rebuilding his business after a devastating fire—Tim continues to put his community first.
“Tim is still helping out his community,” said Louis Krick, a member of the MSAH Board of Directors. “The venison donated through this effort will feed 6,632 nutritious meals to people in Gladwin and the surrounding areas.”
Over the past several years, Lambert’s Meat Market has processed more than 3,600 pounds of venison for MSAH donations. In addition, Tim has hosted canned food drives benefiting families served by Christ the King Lutheran Church in Gladwin.
Thousands of Meals, At No Cost
Since partnering with MSAH, Lambert’s Meat Market has helped provide an estimated 24,580 meals to local communities, along with an additional 250 people served through food drive efforts—all at no charge.
“Tim is truly a local hero,” Krick added. “He is one of MSAH’s most outstanding processors.”

From Hunter to Table: Community at Work
This donation is a strong example of how hunters, processors, and community partners work together through Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger to transform a harvested deer into high-quality protein for families who need it most.
